Overview

The beacon is the ultimate endgame utility block. It projects a beam into the sky and grants powerful status effects to all players within range.

Requires: Nether Star (Wither drop), Beacon block (5 Glass + 3 Obsidian + 1 Nether Star), and a mineral block pyramid.

Getting the Nether Star: Wither Fight

Summon: 4 Soul Sand in T-shape + 3 Wither Skeleton Skulls on top. Fight underground at Y=11 with a Smite V sword. Bring milk buckets.

Beacon Pyramid Tiers

Tier 1: 9 blocks (3x3). One primary power Level I. Range 20 blocks.

Tier 2: 34 blocks. Primary II or secondary I. Range 30.

Tier 3: 83 blocks. Primary II + secondary I. Range 40.

Tier 4: 164 blocks. Primary II + secondary II. Range 50. Max power.

Speed II, Resistance II, Jump Boost II, Strength II, Regeneration II.

Best Beacon Setup

General survival: Haste II primary + Regeneration secondary. Mining outpost: Haste II + Speed II. Nether hub: Resistance II + Regeneration II.

Build your beacon pyramid with Iron blocks. Iron is the cheapest mineral block by far an iron farm produces thousands per hour. Save diamonds for tools.

Beacon Power Combinations

Combining primary and secondary beacon powers creates powerful synergies. Haste II with Regeneration II makes an ideal general-purpose setup for mining and survival. Speed II with Jump Boost II is excellent for exploration and elytra takeoff. For comprehensive Minecraft beacon mechanics and advanced usage guides, check the Minecraft Wikipedia article.
